Artist Statement Service Expectations
My process begins by discovering everything I can about your art. That includes reviewing your art and learning what it means to you. I also conduct a consultation with you over Skype.
The Process
Step One – Payment confirmation and review
I confirm your payment and review the information you have provided.
Step Two – Artist Interview
I’ll also contact you within 36 hours by email to set up a consultation time. During the consultation we’ll discuss:
- Your art.
- Your art influences and motivations.
- How you create your art (your process).
- Mediums and special techniques.
- Style.
- Genre.
- Philosophies.
- Values.
The discussion also confirms:
- The purpose of your statement.
- Word length.
- Voice.
- Your preferred version of English (UK, Australian, USA, Canada or New Zealand).
Step Three – I write your artist statement.
With all the information I’ve gathered, I write your artist statement.
Step Four – I send you your first draft.
The draft will be in MS Word Format or a Text format. If you prefer a different format, just let me know. Delivery is via download or email, ten working days after the interview.
Step Five – You review the draft.
You send back the draft and show where you want changes. We can skip this step and go straight to step seven if you’re already happy with the statement.
I aim to create a short and easy-to-read statement. Additional amendments based on word preference and not errors may incur an extra fee. So, make sure you communicate all the changes clearly when you receive your first draft.
Step Six – We finalize your statement.
Once you are happy with the artist statement, it is yours to keep.
Need a bigger word limit?
If you need your artist statement for a grant or exhibition proposal, I’ll tailor the number of words to fit with your application.
However, if you want a statement that’s over 200 words and up to 500 words in length, you can buy additional words in increments of 50 and above.
